San Miguel de Allende, particularly its urban aspect, would be impossible to understand without this spectacular house, adjoining the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcangel. Formerly the Hospital de Naturales de la Purisima Concepcion - a jewel of 18th century colonial architecture - and subsequently the residence of Guadalupe Rivera Marin, the daughter of painter Diego Rivera, it is now a gorgeous 16-room hotel whose terraces and balconies are steeped in the city's history. Its rooms are decorated with a blend of styles ranging from traditional Mexican to Indian and Moroccan while its leafy courtyards reflect the essence of the city.
